Your starting point for all things Butoh.
Butoh is a form of avant-garde dance which originated in Japan in the 1950's. Although there are butoh companies and performers in countries throughout the world, Butoh is still a relatively unknown art form except in major cities. The goal of this website is to be the central location on the internet for researchers looking for accurate and current information relating to Butoh.
I am an academic librarian and every item on this website is reviewed for specific criteria before being posted. Items must not violate copyright and will be removed if they do. This site was created in conjunction with an article I have written on collection development for librarians interested in butoh. If you have a suggestion for the site, please email me.

If you are a solo performer, dance troupe, performing arts organization and would like your contact information/website added to my page, please send me an email. I apologize for any delays in getting your information added to the site, I'm working, have a young child, and still taking classes!
I would like to thank Jeremy Tressler and Vangeline for generously allowing me to use their images on this website. If you are a photographer or performer and would like to have your images or video on this website, and you own the copyright to the images, please contact me.
